A Misty Morning Forage

Casper (a former NFL and Noma intern, a friend, and a Chef) invited Sarah, Arielle, and I to spend Saturday afternoon foraging in the woods and by the ocean side in Amager.

The morning was a bit overcast but there was no stopping us. We donned our rain jackets and rubber boots, hopped on our bikes and took off on our 10k ride south of the City.

On our ride we biked past some futuristic apartments. Check it out.

And then we past this old viking ship which has been converted into a playground!!

Just beyond this ship we entered the fields and forests and the picking began!

Riding through the forest.
Birch Forest! So magical.
Sarah picking some Sea Buck Thorn
In addition to the sea buck thorn we collected blackberries, rose hips and rose petals, and millions of the most delicious plums. The were bursting with ripeness- a coconutty explosion in your mouth.

Then we emerged from the forest, pushed our bikes up a steep hill and were delightfully surprised to see this-

The ocean!
The sky cleared and it became a beautiful day.

The goods-

Sea buck thorn, plums, and rose hips.

We returned from the forage in the early evening and I got to work cooking.
I whipped up some rose hip ketchup and some blackberry jam.

Prepping the rose hips

Jamming and Ketchup-ing!
